Everfur Prescription & Pharmacy Policy
Effective: September 8, 2026. Published at everfur.com/pharmacy-policy.
This Prescription & Pharmacy Policy ("Policy") explains how prescriptions and prescription products work on Everfur. It is part of the Everfur Terms of Service (everfur.com/terms) and applies to every prescription requested, issued, transmitted, filled, or purchased through the Everfur app or website. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
1. Who does what
Everfur (Strand Health Inc., 1002 Dean Street, Suite 101, Brooklyn, NY 11238) operates the app, the website, the Membership, and the technology that connects you with Veterinary Providers and with our pharmacy partner. Everfur is not a veterinary practice and not a pharmacy. Everfur does not prescribe, dispense, compound, or sell prescription drugs.
Veterinary Providers are independently licensed veterinarians who provide care through Everfur as independent professionals. Only a Veterinary Provider licensed in the state where your pet is located can decide whether to prescribe, what to prescribe, and for how long. That decision is theirs alone, made under the veterinary practice laws of that state and the Telehealth Informed Consent (everfur.com/telehealth-consent).
Our pharmacy partner is Mixlab, Inc. ("Mixlab"), a licensed veterinary pharmacy. Mixlab is accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), is LegitScript certified, and fills Everfur prescriptions in the states where Everfur's prescribing service is available. Mixlab holds pharmacy licenses or registrations in every state to which it ships. Everfur prescriptions are dispensed from Mixlab's California pharmacy at 2223 Federal Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90064, California Board of Pharmacy license PHY 57630, which you can verify at search.dca.ca.gov. Mixlab, not Everfur, sells you prescription products, verifies each prescription, dispenses it under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and is responsible for pharmacy law compliance. Mixlab's own terms and privacy policy apply to its dispensing (mixlab.com/privacy).
2. A valid prescription is always required
Every prescription product on Everfur requires a valid prescription from a licensed veterinarian who has a current veterinarian client patient relationship ("VCPR") with you and your pet. There are two ways a prescription can reach the pharmacy through Everfur:
- From an Everfur Veterinary Provider. After a Visit in which the Veterinary Provider establishes or continues a VCPR in a state where telehealth prescribing is permitted, the Veterinary Provider may issue a prescription electronically through Everfur. Whether a prescription is issued at all is a clinical decision. Membership does not include or guarantee any prescription.
- From your own veterinarian. If your pet already has a veterinarian, you can ask us to request a prescription authorization from that veterinarian for a medication you select. With your consent we send that veterinarian your request and the relevant records. Your veterinarian may approve, decline, change the medication, or require an examination first. We cannot control or speed up that decision, and we do not pay your veterinarian for approvals. If your veterinarian declines, we will tell you, and you may book a Visit with an Everfur Veterinary Provider where that is available in your state.
Everfur never dispenses a prescription product before a licensed veterinarian has issued a prescription for that pet, and Mixlab independently verifies every prescription before dispensing. Product pages that describe prescription medications are informational; adding a product to your cart is a request for a prescription review, not a purchase, until a prescription exists.
3. Where prescriptions are available
Telehealth prescribing is governed by the law of the state in which your pet is physically located at the time of the Visit, not by where you live. The states in which Everfur Veterinary Providers can currently establish a VCPR and prescribe by telehealth, the states in which Visits are available without prescriptions, and the states in which only general pet health education is available are listed and kept current at everfur.com/service-availability. You must confirm your pet's location when you book, and the Veterinary Provider will confirm it again at the start of the Visit. Misstating your pet's location is a violation of the Terms of Service and can result in a prescription being voided.
Prescriptions from your own veterinarian (Section 2) are available in every state, subject to that veterinarian's decision.
4. What Everfur Veterinary Providers will not prescribe
- Controlled substances. Everfur Veterinary Providers do not prescribe, and Mixlab does not dispense through Everfur, any DEA scheduled controlled substance (for example tramadol, phenobarbital, diazepam, alprazolam, ketamine, or buprenorphine) or xylazine. If your pet needs a controlled substance, you will be referred to in person care.
- Human medications for human use. Prescriptions through Everfur are issued only for the animal examined and only for veterinary use.
- Medications for animals not examined. A Veterinary Provider can prescribe only for a pet that Veterinary Provider has personally examined and only while the VCPR is current.
- Anything outside state limits. Each state sets its own limits on telehealth prescribing, and Veterinary Providers apply the limits of the state where your pet is located. For example, in California a prescription issued after a telehealth examination is limited to six months from the examination date, antimicrobial drugs are limited to fourteen days of treatment without an in person examination, and no controlled substance may be prescribed by telehealth. Other states impose different limits, including some that require an in person examination before any prescription.
- Medications that the Veterinary Provider judges inappropriate. A Veterinary Provider may decline any prescription request and may require an in person examination, diagnostics, or a follow up Visit first.
- FDA approved drugs only, at launch. Everfur Veterinary Providers currently prescribe only FDA approved animal drugs used in accordance with their labeling. Compounded medications and extralabel (off label) uses are not offered through Everfur at this time; if your pet needs one, your Veterinary Provider will refer you to in person care.
5. Your pharmacy is your choice
You are never required to fill a prescription through Everfur or Mixlab. At your request your Veterinary Provider will give you a written or electronic prescription, at no charge, that you may fill at any licensed pharmacy of your choice, including a local retail pharmacy or another online pharmacy. Some prescription drugs or medications may be available at a pharmacy near you. To transfer a prescription that is already on file with Mixlab to another pharmacy, ask in the app or email hello@everfur.com and we will coordinate the transfer; Everfur does not charge a transfer fee. Refills of a prescription you filled elsewhere are handled by that pharmacy under the prescription's terms.
Financial disclosure. Everfur has a commercial relationship with Mixlab and earns revenue when you fill a prescription through Everfur. Veterinary Providers are compensated by Everfur for Visits and, in some states, may receive compensation that varies with prescriptions filled through Everfur; where that is the case it is disclosed in the Telehealth Informed Consent for your state. No Veterinary Provider is required or encouraged to prescribe any product, and your choice of pharmacy never affects the care you receive.
6. Pricing, payment, and who you are buying from
Prescription products purchased through Everfur are sold to you by Mixlab. Everfur collects your payment on Mixlab's behalf as its payment facilitator and remits it to Mixlab; the charge appears on your statement as Everfur. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout at the time you place the order, plus any applicable sales tax and any order processing fee shown before you confirm. Prices can change between orders. Members receive member pricing where shown. Prices for compounded medications depend on the formulation and may not be known until the prescription is verified; if the verified price differs from the estimate shown, we will ask you to confirm before the order is filled.
We do not bill pet insurance. On request we provide an itemized receipt showing the medication, strength, quantity, prescriber, pharmacy, and amount paid, which you can submit to your insurer.
7. Verification, processing, and shipping
After a prescription is issued and you place an order, Mixlab's pharmacists verify the prescription, check for interactions and allergies against the information provided, and dispense the medication. Verification normally completes within one business day; it can take longer if the pharmacist needs to contact the Veterinary Provider. Orders verified before 12:00 pm Eastern on a business day usually ship the same day, and most orders arrive within one to two business days after shipping. Standard shipping on prescription orders is free. Temperature sensitive medications are shipped in insulated packaging and may be held to avoid weekend transit. We ship within the continental United States to street addresses; some items cannot ship to PO boxes, Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories. You will receive tracking by email, push notification, or text if you have opted in.
Inspect your order on arrival. Contact us within seven (7) days at hello@everfur.com if anything is missing, damaged, incorrect, or arrived warm when it should have been cold. Do not give your pet a medication that appears damaged or does not match the prescription label.
8. Refills and autoship
Refills require a prescription with refills remaining and a current VCPR. Your Veterinary Provider may authorize refills for a defined period and may require a follow up Visit before authorizing more. When a prescription is about to expire, we will remind you and offer to schedule a Visit or to request authorization from your veterinarian.
If you enroll a prescription in autoship, we will process a refill order on the schedule you choose, charge your payment method on file, and send you a reminder at least three (3) days before each shipment. You can change the schedule, skip a shipment, or cancel autoship at any time in the app before the reminder's cutoff. Autoship stops automatically when the prescription expires, runs out of refills, or is cancelled by the Veterinary Provider.
9. Returns and refunds
Because dispensed medications cannot be returned to pharmacy stock under pharmacy law and safety rules, all sales of prescription products are final once dispensed, including compounded medications, which are made to order for your pet. We will replace, or if replacement is not possible refund, any prescription product that arrives damaged, is not what was prescribed, is lost in transit, or was shipped in error, provided you notify us within seven (7) days of delivery (or of the expected delivery date). If a prescription cannot be verified or is declined by the pharmacist or the Veterinary Provider before dispensing, any amount charged is refunded in full. An allergic reaction, side effect, or lack of effect is a clinical matter, not a return; contact your Veterinary Provider through the app, and in an emergency go to the nearest emergency animal hospital. Refunds are returned to the original payment method within ten (10) business days of approval. Membership refunds are governed by the Terms of Service, Section 6.7.
10. Medication safety and adverse events
Follow the label and your Veterinary Provider's instructions. Some medications are prescribed for uses, doses, or species not listed on the manufacturer's label ("extra label" use); when that is the case your Veterinary Provider will tell you, and it is permitted only under a valid VCPR. Everfur's automated drug safety checks and medication information are informational tools that support, and never replace, the judgment of your Veterinary Provider and Mixlab's pharmacists. Keep all medications away from children and other animals.
If your pet has a suspected adverse reaction to a medication: if the reaction is severe (difficulty breathing, collapse, seizures, repeated vomiting, swelling of the face) go to the nearest emergency animal hospital immediately. Otherwise message your Veterinary Provider in the app or email hello@everfur.com as soon as possible and stop the medication if your Veterinary Provider tells you to. We will record the report in your pet's medical record, notify Mixlab and, where appropriate, the manufacturer, and support any required reporting. You may also report directly to the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (1-888-FDA-VETS, or Form FDA 1932a) or to the manufacturer at the number on the label. See everfur.com/complaints for our full complaint and safety reporting process.
11. Compounded medications
Compounded medications are not offered through Everfur at launch; this Section describes how they will be handled if and when they are offered. Some prescriptions call for a compounded medication, for example a flavored liquid for a cat that will not take tablets or a strength that is not commercially manufactured. Compounded medications on Everfur are prepared by Mixlab, a state licensed 503A compounding pharmacy, only pursuant to a patient specific prescription from your Veterinary Provider and only where an FDA approved product is not available or not medically appropriate for your pet. Compounded drugs are not FDA approved, are not reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness, and are prepared to the prescription's specifications; your Veterinary Provider will explain why a compounded product is being prescribed. Compounded products have shorter shelf lives than manufactured products and cannot be returned.
12. Records
Prescriptions issued by Veterinary Providers are part of your pet's veterinary medical record on Everfur and are retained as described in our Privacy Policy. Mixlab keeps its own prescription and dispensing records as required by pharmacy law, for periods that do not depend on the status of your Everfur account, and Everfur cannot delete those records. You can view your prescriptions, refill status, and order history in the app at any time.
13. Fraud and misuse
Requesting a prescription for an animal you do not own or have authority over, misrepresenting your pet's location, altering or forging a prescription, seeking a controlled substance through Everfur, or reselling prescription products are violations of the Terms of Service, may be crimes, and will result in cancellation of Membership and referral to the appropriate authorities.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy as laws, states, or partners change, and will post the effective date above. Material changes are notified in the app or by email. Questions about a prescription, order, or billing: hello@everfur.com or (914) 924-4815. Mixlab pharmacist consultation: (888) 901-4480.
